On Saturday, Ramsbottom United travel to Skelmersdale United, hoping to kick-start their season and start moving back up the table and away from the relegation zone, which we have slipped into over the last few days.
All 17 league games that are remaining over the next 8 weeks are vital. And it is time for the supporters to firmly back the team and make the fairly short trip to west Lancashire to give them our full support.
Without a league success since the end of November and just 2 points gained from the last 27 available, the time is now to put all of the upheaval behind us and firmly move on, lining up behind Jon Robinson and his new-look team and giving them our full and undivided attention and backing to ensure we do not get further into the relegation mire and move towards safety and comfort.
Our hosts on Saturday are also on an indifferent run of just 2 wins from the last 8 and a single point collected from the last 12 which has seen their vice-like grip on the league leadership wrenched away and seen them slide to fourth.
Of course, there is a major difference from being top and dropping to fourth and being fourth and now being 21st, which is where the Rams find themselves now. With a squad still looking to find their feet and their stability and concerns over the league position and the horrendous run of form, it is naturally a worry for all concerned.
However, we still have SEVENTEEN games to play!!! And also a pleasant distraction of a League Cup semi-final to come against Farsley with the carrot of a possible Final and the first major silverware of the Evo-Stik era.
The time is absolutely now to come and support the lads, give them your full backing, cheer, sing, chant and enjoy the good times. Yes, we have our worries right now and we can’t afford to sit on our laurels of thinking that somewhere along the line of the 17 games left, we will get the points we need. We need to start winning and collecting vital points as soon as feasibly possible so we can enjoy the run in to the end of the season rather than concern ourselves, for the first time in living memory, about a relegation fight.
We have always said watching Rammy is a rollercoaster ride! This season has been the whitest of all the white-knucklers with some incredible highs and some shattering lows and now we head to the ‘corkscrew’ of a finale of the 2014/15 Rammy Rollercoaster Ride – that bit of the ride that everyone is talking about, the frightening conclusion. But now is the time to tame those final twists, turns and spins and head back to the calmer waters of the kiddies roundabout to relax and enjoy what the remainder of this first NPL Premier Division season has to hold.
Because, everyone involved with Rammy certainly doesn’t want it to be a single soiree into this level before heading back from whence we came.
Be there tomorrow, everyone. Your club need you. Your team need you. And let’s make lots of noise!!!
