The Rams made one change from the original tie on Saturday, Khalil Osi-Efa came into the side in-place of Simon Woodford, while Workington made two changes Brad Hubbold and Sam Joel came in for Kieran Maguire and Jordan Holt.
The Rams began in confident mood having earned the replay with a good display in attrocious conditions on the Cumbrian coast on Saturday and were soon on the offensive. Nic Evangelinos had a couple of early chances both of his headers going over the bar, the first tipped over by the visiting keeper Aaron Taylor, the second chance was from around six yards out and that was the best chance in the opening fifteen minutes.
Workington gradually wrestled their way back into the game and their best chance probably came from Joel who hit the post on 23 minutes then as the ball flashed across goal after it rebounded to Tinnion who volleyed wide.
It was pretty even for the rest of a competitive first half, as both sides looked to get a foothold in the game but they went in 0-0 at the break, a fair reflection as to how the first forty-five minutes had panned out with end to end football from both sides.
HALF TIME Rams 0 Workington 0
Workington had an early chance six minutes into the second half, the ball was played once again to Sam Joel but the visiting midfielder was in an offside position.
Just before the Rams took the lead they had a chance after Nic Evangelinos’ shot was blocked well by the Workington shot stopper Taylor.
However, the Rams broke the deadlock on 58 minutes, The ball was bundled around the area before it fell to Ruben Jerome who, at the third attempt managed to slot the ball home from close range to put the Rams ahead in their FA Trophy replay
Workington’s best chance to level came on 64 minutes when Scott Allison put the ball over the bar, if it had been an inch or two lower it would have been in and it certainly would have been a different game for the final 25 minutes.
The Rams then doubled their lead with sixteen minutes to go, Evangelinos who was the best player on the night for the Rams, scored having raced through from the left hand side and unleashing an unstoppable shot from around 15 yards out.
Nialle Rodney then had a chance to add a third for the Rams but his shot was blocked by a sliding challenge by Dan Wordsworth which resulted in a serious injury for the Rammy winger. Nialle’s lower leg collided with the post and he has believed to have suffered a serious injury to his ankle .
Thirty-three minutes was the delay for the injury to Nialle, who was then carried off the field to a round of applause from around the ground.
All the Rams needed to do was to play out the final nine minutes, The substitute who came on for Rodney was Regan Jarrett, he had a couple of chances in the final few minutes one of which came off the bar, and 2-0 was how if finished for the Lancashire side, who will face Weymouth in the next round on Saturday 12th January 2019
