The Rams took to the field for the third time this pre-season with an away game at NWCFL Division One South side New Mills.
As with pre-season many trialists, Ben Hampson, Max Leonard, Luke Thompson & Jamie Rother were in the starting lineup amongst trialists.
The first real chance of the evening was the opening goal for New Mills, the number 8 for the hosts took a shot from distance, the Rammy keeper caught off his line and it looped the keeper into the back of the net.
Rammy had a chance just two minutes later, a Max Leonard free-kick was crossed into the box and one of the trialists tried a backheel but the keeper held well.
The Rams were level on 17 minutes, through the Trialist wearing No 7, he cut across from the left-hand side and slotted home into the bottom right-hand corner.
New Mills had another effort shortly after, the shot palmed away by the Rams goalkeeper for a corner, the resulting corner came to nothing.
Rammy took the lead just before the half-hour mark, the trialist number 9 cut from the left and his right-footed shot ended up in the far corner.
And the Rams had a third just a few minutes later, another well-taken effort from number 9 increased the lead.
Just before half time, Ben Hampson was penalised for a foul in the area on New Mills No 11, the No 9 for New Mills slotted home the penalty as the Rams keeper guessed the wrong way.
And that was the last action of the half with the Rams leading 3-2 at the break.
The Rams had the first chance of the second half, Jamie Rother took a curling shot from the edge of the area but it’s held well by the New Mills keeper.
Also within the first 10 minutes of the second half, New Mills had a what could have been a dangerous free-kick on the edge of the area but the free-kick hit the wall and was cleared away.
On the hour mark, the Rams made their first changes – Richie Baker & A Trialist came on, as Jamie Rother & Ben Hampson departed.
Shortly after, Max Leonard’s took a shot from just inside the area but his effort, came off the post.
As more changes were made the game began to slow down and didn’t have the pace of the first half, New Mills No 11 took a punt from the edge of the area with 14 minutes to go but his shot was just wide of the left-hand post.
Rammy had the final chance of the came, as the trialist No 9’s shot went across the keeper and trickled just wide of the right post.
No goals in the second half so that’s how it ended and Rams ended their third pre-season game with a win.
Next up for the Rams is another North West Counties Side in Cheadle Town, who visit the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium this Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
