REPORT by Dominic Potts
Rams fell to their first defeat of the season losing 3-1 away at Clitheroe.
Both sides went into this one unbeaten as Rammy sat in second while the hosts sat in fifth.
The home side started the better and made their early pressure pay scoring after just 13 minutes following a cross which Giosue Bellegambi palmed away but it landed at the feet of Danny Wilkins who put the ball in the back of the net to make it 1-0.
Rammy reacted well and started to show more pressure with Sefton Gonzales coming close seeing his looping header tipped over the bar by Chris Thompson.
Just as Rams started to gain some momentum, the home side provided a sucker punch and following a free kick Craig Hobson rose highest to flick the ball on which then eventually fell at the feet of Kielen Adams who smashed the ball home to make it 2-0.
Right on the stroke of half time, Rammy gave themselves a fighting chance with a really well worked goal following a great run and cross from Danny O’Brien found Donaldson who made no mistake in heading home meaning it was 2-1 at the break.
Clitheroe responded soon after half time after a through ball which Bellagambi rushed out for slipped through his hands and Terry Cummings scored from an acute angle to double the home teams advantage to 3-1.
Bellagambi then did really well to get across his goal and push a header behind.
Chris Willcock then made a double substitution in an attempt to get something from the game bringing on both Aaron Burns and Jake Thompson.
They both had an impact on the game especially Thompson who twice cut inside and curled efforts just past the post.
Rammy continued to give their all but sadly on the night it wasn’t enough and we fell to our winning start to the season came to an end.
