Wiill it be third time lucky for the long awaited Ramsbottom United home coming as, on Tuesday evening, Skelmersdale United are due to come to the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium to finally give the Rams a home match after over nine weeks of waiting.
RAMSBOTTOM UNITED v SKELMERSDALE UNITED
Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division
Harry Williams Riverside Stadium
Tuesday 23 February 2016
Not since Stamford came to Ramsbottom on 19th December has the HWRS seen any action on the field as the Boxing Day floods, which left the ground under 3ft of water, subsided and the work commenced to get the ground fit again.
And just when it was – the rains came again and washed out the match against Grantham Town on the 6th February – so it was finally time for the turnstiles to roll again. However, the heavy rains over the last couple of days have left the ground saturated and the game postponed once more on Saturday against Ashton United.
Our next scheduled match is hoped be on Tuesday night when Skelmersdale Untied come to the HWRS followed by more home games against Workington (27 February), Colwyn Bay (1 March), Matlock Town (5 March), Grantham Town (12 March) and Nantwich Town (15 March).
The Rams’ next match on the road doesn’t come until Saturday 19 March when we go to Derbyshire to play Mickleover Sports.
The club would like to thank the many volunteers and helpers who have, over the last eight weeks, been outstanding in their unstinting graft to get the ground back up and running and fit for action. The wonderful support from the league fraternity, both local and further afield, plus the brilliant amount raised via our FundRaising page has helped get the HWRS back to full fitness and Saturday’s match will hopefully be a celebration of the work put in – with a bumper crowd hoped to welcome the action back.
