Table-toppers Ramsbottom United welcome strugglers Ossett United to the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium in a game the bookmakers would have down as a home banker.
The Rams have 55 points from their 26 games, whereas the visitors from west Yorkshire have so far managed to garner just 20 from the same number of matches, of which just 4 were gained on opposition soil.
Ramsbottom’s home form has been terrific with eleven victories from thirteen, so it is easy to understand why the odds are very much on a home win.
However, football is hardly that predictable, and any slackness shown by the home side is likely to be punished by a team desperate for points to escape the fear of relegation.
The sides drew 1-1 earlier in the season but the Rams squad has changed dramatically since those early days, and with the prospect of being taken over at the top by the likes of Workington, Marine and Pontefract Collieries, the Rams will be determined to cling to the summit.
They will also be buoyed by the extra supporters that have been attracted to the HWRS of late. Having already scored 68 league goals, the entertainment value this season has been extremely high and those newcomers, as well as being appreciated by the club, have done their bit to encourage the team to continue in a similar vein.
Storm Ciara affected the club last week but the pitch is looking good (pictured below) ahead of tomorrow’s game, we’ll keep you updated on any pitch inspections if and when we need to.
