Ramsbottom United’s pre-season campaign continues on Tuesday with a trip to Northern Counties East Premier Division side Silsden AFC.
This is the second game of pre-season for Chris Willcock’s side following on from a 4-2 defeat at Padiham on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking after Saturday’s fixture Willcock said: “I think overall it’s been a long time for us, it was good to be on the touchline again, all the lads were looking forward to the game.
Overall, there were some good moments, not happy with conceding four goals but ultimately that’s where we are at the moment.
We had a number of lads missing today, let’s move onto Tuesday and see what we get”
Many trialists took to the field for the Rams in the preseason opener and it’s expected to be the same for this fixture against a Silsden side who held Bradford Park Avenue of the National League North in their most recent friendly with a 0-0 draw.
The Cobbydalers are yet to complete a season in the Northern Counties East Football League following a lateral move from the North West Counties, due to COVID-19.
Over the two seasons, they have played 38 games winning 13, drawing 8 and losing 17.
Danny Forrest’s side scored 62 goals and conceded 73 goals at the other end over the same period.
As both clubs are former members of the North West Counties Football League, we have met on fourteen occasions, with the Rams winning six and Silsden winning five, there have also been three draws between the two sides.
The Rams are yet to win at the Cobbydale Constructions Stadium. Falling to defeat on both occasions, 1-0 in March 2011 and a 2-1 loss in September of the same year.
Tickets for this one are priced at £4 for adults and £2 for concessions and are available at the gate upon arrival.
The bar will be closed at Silsden tomorrow evening although other food and drinks will be available for spectators.
We hope you all enjoy the game!
Come on You Rams!
