Ramsbottom United have further strengthened their attacking options with the signing of Phil Dean from Colne. The Bury-based winger/forward is back home to the Riverside where he made 265 appearance in a six-year spell, scoring 57 goals.
His last appearance for the Rams was in December 2014, ironically against Skelmersdale United who the Rams visit this weekend. In 2013/14, when promotion to the Evo-Stik Premier Division was achieved, Dean scored 25 goals in 51 games, the sort of influence Mark Fell will be hoping his new recruit will be able to replicate.
“Phil is someone I’ve always been keen to work with, I know he’ll thrive under the way we do things here. It’s a great environment for him to come into and he’ll give us another dimension to the way we can set ourselves up going forward. He’s arrived to us with a bit of a knock but I don’t see any reason why he can’t be in contention for Saturday’s trip to Skem.”
