Ramsbottom United can confirm the signing of defender Cameron Collins.

He joins the club after a spell at Selby Town in the Northern Counties East League.

The 21-year-old was born in Liverpool and prior to his time at Selby played for Ashton Town in the North West Counties League.

He’s also just finished a degree in politics at the University of York.

Speaking to ramsbottomunited.co.uk after signing Collins said: “My dad lives in Rammy so I know the club is massive in the area.

Lee is also a great coach and it would be good to learn from him and I think we can do very well.”

He added: “It’s amazing to be back playing after the last few seasons being cancelled. All of us are looking forward to the first game and hopefully kicking on with a win.

This season I just want to play and win as much as possible, and hopefully learn a lot from the players around me.”

Manager, Lee Donafee added: “Cam Collins is a player who’s come in with a great reputation from playing with Selby Town.

Cameron is a big strong centre half whose addition to the squad will be needed. Although from Liverpool Cameron has family ties in Ramsbottom”

Collins featured in the game against Bury AFC last Saturday and is in contention for tomorrow’s pre-season trip to Bala Town.
