With the professional game moving more and more towards the corporate side, supporters are increasingly being regarded as mere numbers.

So it’s no surprise that more and more people are turning to non-league level for their football enjoyment.

Gone are the days when the non-league game was regarded as a non-event. Nowadays football below the Football League is extremely well organised, and the hundreds of clubs around the country are well run institutions with ever-improving stadia and a quality of football that usually amazes those watching for the first time.

However, the work needed to put on games at this level is enormous, with clubs constantly crying out for more volunteers.

Ramsbottom United, playing at non-league’s fourth level in the Pitching In Northern Premier League West Division, is no exception.

Be it working on the pitch and stadium during the week, writing match reports or acting as ball boy on match days, there are many jobs available for someone who would like to be more than just a spectator.

By being a part of the running of a club brings many rewards. The feeling of being truly involved and giving something back to the game is enhanced by the feeling of camaraderie that pervades the non-league game. Many friendships last a life-time, and the friendly rivalry with opposing clubs brings it’s own enjoyment.

Sadly, there are many out there who would love to become involved but are perhaps uncertain how to take the first step.

Well, anyone interested in becoming involved is more than welcome to contact Ramsbottom United secretary tony.cunningham@ramsbottomunited.co.uk who will offer advise and suggestions in the first instance, with no obligation.

The pleasure to be gained from such involvement cannot be over-stated, and any queries can be addressed merely by sending in such on the above email address.

Ramsbottom United look forward to discussing options with anyone interested in becoming part of the wonderful world of non-league football.

One such position is that of KIT MAN.

This would be an ideal opportunity for a regular supporter to become involved, and again should you be interested, for further details, please contact the secretary at the above email address.
