Ramsbottom United are delighted to announce the signing of central defender Josh Heaton.
Heaton arrives from Bamber Bridge and has Evo-Stik and National League experience with Tamworth and Stalybridge when on loan from Preston North End.
The 6ft 4in, 21-year-old, gained a pro contract at Preston after time in the centre of excellence and youth team. He was part of the Academy team coached by Rams boss Mark Fell and in the summer was subject to a bid from Darlington which only fell through after Josh broke his collar bone. The Rams manager knows exactly what to expect from his newest recruit.
“Josh is a big, strong lad who loves the old fashioned defensive parts of the game, he’s trained with us for the last week and really impressed, he’s fitted straight into the group and I know he’ll be a great asset to the club.”
Heaton is expected to make his debut in the FA Trophy against Shaw Lane tomorrow.
