Grimshaw the difference in game of two halves.
New signing 21-year-old Sam Grimshaw scored two and set up a third for Lee Gaskell in the quintessential game of two halves down at Stamford.
The youngster naturally plays out wide either as a full back or in a more advanced position. He progressed through Manchester City’s youth setup, and was notably part of the Glossop North End side who finished runners up in the FA Vase last season. He toured America pre-season with Manchester United before joining the Rams on Thursday. Saturday’s first half suggested that the goal drought looked to be well and truly over as The Rams went into the break with a 3-0 lead, with Gaskell almost adding a fourth early in the second half, denied only by the woodwork.
The substitutions of Jamie Rother and Andy Dawson were followed by two Stamford goals in four minutes however, and a renewed belief from the home side meant that it was just a matter of time before they found the equaliser – which eventually and cruelly came right the 90 minutes.
