With the vast majority of Ramsbottom United’s promotion winning side having already committed themselves to the club’s first season at Evo-Stik Premier level, the Rams were quick to offer goalkeeper Grant Shenton a contract to ward off potential suitors.
Grant now enters his fifth season with the east Lancashire club, and has made almost 200 appearances.
Recognised as one of the best keepers in the League, joint-manager Anthony Johnson said, “We are delighted to have kept Grant at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium, as he is a vital part of the team that has done so well in recent seasons.
“For me, he is the best keeper in non-league football. Not many keepers at 23 years of age have played nearly 200 first team games and won two promotions and been included in the leagues’ team of the year,” he added.
Grant himself is delighted to be staying with the club. “After breaking my leg at New Mills towards the end of last season, it was frustrating to watch the lads over the final few weeks. But they managed to gain promotion and I’m looking forward to the new challenge in the Evo-Stik Premier.”
