Ramsbottom United manager Jon Robinson is delighted to announce that he has added former Football League defender Wayne Goodison to his coaching staff as the Rams gear up for their second season in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

Goodison arrives at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium with a wealth of experience having played over 200 games in the Football League with Barnsley, Crewe Alexandra and Rochdale, before joining Hyde United.

Since retiring as a player, he has held coaching positions at Rossendale United, Salford City, Chorley and Trafford, before a brief spell at Radcliffe Borough at the end of last season.

The 50-year-old had a reputation as a no-nonsense right-back during his playing days, and Robinson is delighted to have enticed him to east Lancashire.

“He will bring loads of experience to the club as I put together a new squad to compete at the highest level the club has ever been at,” said the Rams manager.  “I’ve known Wayne for many years and have great respect for him both as a coach and a man, and I am really looking forward to working with him.  His knowledge and enthusiasm will pass itself onto the players.

“Along with my assistant Phil Edghill, we are excited about the new players we are bringing to the club, and we are all looking forward to pre-season and, hopefully, a successful campaign in the Evo-Stik League.”
