Ramsbottom United’s successful promotion campaign received widespread recognition in front of a packed audience at the Evo-Stik League’s Presentation Night at Blackpool’s Hilton Hotel on Saturday (14th June).
Celebrating the club’s elevation to its highest ever position in football’s pyramid, a delegation of eleven members of the club enjoyed the evening’s five course dinner and cabaret entertainment along with over 450 other members of the football fraternity.
The club had already received one award at the League’s AGM earlier in the day, when the League’s operations manager Alan Allcock presented the “Club of the Month for April & May” certificate to Rams Secretary Tony Cunningham, along with a 4 and a half litre bottle of Bell’s whisky, the team’s third such award of the season! No other club in the three Evo-Stik Northern Premier League received three in the past season.
Amongst those presented with awards in the evening was the Rams leading goal-scorer Lee Gaskell, whose 29 goals made him the Evo-Stik North’s leading striker, and he was presented with the “Golden Boot” award by the Leagues Vice Chairman Keith Brown.
The “Play-off Winner’s Vase” was presented to the Rams Matchday Secretary Andy Edmundson by the League’s Secretary Angie Firth.
A fitting end to a fine season as the club’s profile continues to grow having gained two promotions in three seasons.
Everyone at the club is looking forward to the new season, beginning in August, when the Rams will compete in the Evo-Stik Premier League for the first time in their history.
