It was a glorious sunny day in Ramsbottom on Sunday 27th December which allowed the flood waters to recede just about enough for officers of the club to be able to enter the ground and take stock of the devastation caused by the Boxing Day flooding.
As you will see from the attached pictures, again taken by Vice-Chairman Chris Woolfall, the ground is in a severe state and, of course, the game scheduled for Bank Holiday Monday against Workington was duly postponed.
The big clean up will commence on Monday at 11am – and any help you can offer would be very much welcome.
As mentioned in the other article on the website today, Ramsbottom United has been absolutely overwhelmed with the messages of support for their plight and the fantastic response we have received from the local community and also from the wider non-league football family – including a truly amazing offer from Halesowen Town FC to pass round a bucket to raise funds for the club at their forthcoming match and also from Sutton Coldfield Town FC, who are to send supporters of their club to the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium to help with the clean-up.
These gestures of support and good will are quite something and, on behalf of the club, we would like to thank them very much indeed for their kind offers.
Below is a selection of pictures, taken today (Sunday 27th December 2015) which show the level of the damage caused.
