Ramsbottom United have been drawn away in both of the FA competitions early rounds when the draw was made at Wembley this morning.

For the first time in their history, the Rams have by-passed the Preliminary Rounds and will travel to the Peak District to play fellow Northern Premier League outfit Buxton in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Cup on Saturday 13th September 2014.

Buxton finished 13th in the Premier Division last term and this will be the first time the two sides have crossed swords in competitive action (providing we don’t meet in the league before hand – the league fixtures are out on Thursday 17th July).

Meanwhile, in the FA Trophy, Bernard and Jonno’s men face a long trip to North Yorkshire to play another side they will meet in Premier Division action this season, travelling to The Turnbull Ground to meet Whitby Town on Saturday 1st November 2014 in the First Qualifying Round.

The Seasiders closed the 2013/14 season in ninth place in the NPL Premier Division and it will be the second time the two sides have met, having played each other in the FA Cup on 29th September 2002 when goals from Brendan O’Shaughnessy and David Yorke-Robinson could prevent the Riversiders going down 5-2.
