Evo-Stik Premier League side Ramsbottom United have been boosted ahead of the new campaign by the news that influential central defender Andy Dawson is back after a lengthy spell out of the game with injury.
Having arrived at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium back in 2008, Dawson has made 172 starting appearances for the club, plus 4 more off the bench.
One of those off the bench was his solitary appearance last season when he played the final few minutes of a game, but his injury was still causing problems.
The previous season he was restricted to just 14 starts, and the big defender commented, “I’ve been out injured for around 18 months, which has been frustrating. The doctors have now given me the all clear, and I just need to get back to full match fitness, and return to the side.”
Dawson has been captain for much of his time at the club and was an integral part of the squad that gained two promotions in three years, leading to the Rams competing in the highest position in their history.
His return will prove to be a massive boost not only to the team but the Rammy supporters who hold the defender in high regard.
