Ramsbottom United ended the 2017/18 season with an awards night in the adjacent Cricket Club suite.

“Supporters Player of the Year” award went to centre-half LUKE THOMPSON, who has had a superb season at the heart of the Rams’ defence.

Meanwhile, the “Players’ Player of the Year” was won by winger JEROME WRIGHT, who also finished the season with another award as the Rams’ “Top goal-scorer” with 18 goals.  Sadly, Jerome was not able to be present on the night, but his awards were picked up by manager Mark Fell.

The Management team’s “Player of the Year” decision went to captain DEAN STOTT, whose consistency in either midfield or defence has once again been outstanding.

The “Goal of the Season”, as voted for by the Supporters went to PHIL DEAN for his superb strike at the end of October in the FA Trophy replay against Premier Division high-flyers Shaw Lane AFC.

Other awards on the night saw two certificates handed out to club photographer FRANK CROOK and programme contributor DAZ COMER, who both went the whole season without missing a single Ramsbottom United game.

Acknowledgements were also received by KATIE WORSICK for her work with the Supporters Club, along with SOPHIE FLETCHER, the club’s Catering Manager, and EMMA and KATIE for their services to the club.

Joining the First team once again for the Awards night were the Reserve team form the Ramsbottom United Junior Section.

They also had their own awards to hand out on the night, and two of the youngsters who have broken into the First team not unnaturally were grateful recipients.

“Supporters Player of the Year” went to defender HARRY FOULDS, who enjoyed a run with the senior side towards the end of the campaign.

The “Player of the Season” was also deemed to be HARRY FOULDS who looks like having a fine future in the game.

“Top Goalscorer” accolade was won by another player who has featured on a number of occasions in the Evo-Stik League, REGAN JARRETT.

The “Reserves’ Player of the Year” award was credited to another fine young player, DYLAN KANE.

Speeches were made by CHRIS STANDRING on behalf of the Junior Section, manager MARK FELL with his review of the season and Chairman HARRY WILLIAMS with his usual interesting and informative view of all things Ramsbottom United!

A potato pie supper and DJ completed an enjoyable night for all those who attended the evening.

As the 2017/18 season finally came to an end, the focus is now firmly on the new campaign which will begin on August 18th, and the management team and playing squad will be assessed over the coming months with the usual turnaround that we expect to see at most clubs during the closed season.

Ramsbottom United wishes all it’s supporters a pleasant summer break, and looks forward to seeing everyone come the start of the new season.
